General construction notes
A brick and block wall where the cavity is fully filled with an appropriate water
repellent mineral wool insulation.
The mineral wool provides thermal insulation as well as protection against moisture
penetration from outside to inside.
Consideration needs to be given to the internal finishing of the wall to maintain
airtightness.
The use of a brick outer leaf and block inner leaf means the construction does not
require the use of cavity barriers to comply with Approved Document B. As the
cavity is also fully filled with insulation, additional closing of the cavity at the top of
the wall is not required.
